CAS decisions

Since 2012, UEFA regularly publishes the decision of its Organs for Administration of Justice (i.e. the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body, the Appeals Body and the Club Financial Control Body).

As a significant step to further increase transparency and to provide useful information to UEFA's stakeholders, UEFA also publishes:
i) decisions issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in cases involving UEFA, and
ii) the list of CAS arbitrators specialised in football proposed by UEFA for the CAS within the FIFA list

The number, following each name, identifies how many times the relevant arbitrator has been designated by UEFA in proceedings within this period

The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has announced the following decisions: Match: 2017/18 UEFA Champions League quarter-final: Real Madrid CF - Juventus (1-3) Charges against Juventus: - Gianluigi Buffon - direct red card - Art. 15 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR) - Gianluigi Buffon – general principles of conduct - Art 11 (2) (b) DR Decision The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided to suspend the Juventus player Gianluigi Buffon for three (3) UEFA competition matches for which he would be otherwise eligible. - - - - - Match: 2017/18 UEFA Champions League semi-final: Liverpool FC - AS Roma (5-2) Charges against AS Roma: - Crowd disturbances - Art. 16 (2) DR Decision The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided: - to fine AS Roma € 50’000; - to ban AS Roma from selling tickets to its supporters for the next two (2) UEFA competition matches which the club will play as the visiting team. The second match in which the Italian club will serve the ban from selling tickets is deferred under a probationary period of two (2) years. - - - - - Match: 2017/18 UEFA Europa League Round of 32: Athletic Club - FC Spartak Moskva (1-2) Charges against Athletic Club: - Insufficient organization - Article 16 (1) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR) - Setting off of fireworks – Art. 16 (2) (c) DR - Crowd disturbances – Art. 16 (2) (h) DR - Throwing of objects – Art. 16 (2) (b) DR Decision  The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided: - to fine Athletic Club € 40´000; - to order the partial closure of the Athletic Club Stadium during the next (1) UEFA competition match in which Athletic Club would play as the host club. The Spanish club shall inform at least 30 days prior to the match, the sector(s) to be closed, which shall comprehend at least 2´000 seats. Charges against FC Spartak Moskva: - Setting off of fireworks – Art. 16 (2) (c) DR - Crowd disturbances – Art. 16 (2) (h) DR - Throwing of objects – Art. 16 (2) (b) DR Decision The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided: - to fine FC Spartak Moskva €55,000; - to ban FC Spartak Moskva from selling tickets to its supporters for the next three (3) UEFA competition matches which the club will play as the visiting team. The third match in which the Russian club will serve a ban from selling tickets is deferred under a probationary period of two (2) years.
