Maltese Cup final rematch favours Hibernians

Two goals from Tarabai and one from fellow Brazilian Jackson Lima secured a tenth Maltese Cup for Hibernians FC, as they beat Qormi FC 3-1 in the final for the second season in a row.

History repeated itself in the FA Trophy in Malta, with Hibernians FC beating Qormi FC 3-1 in the cup final for the second season in succession.

After a goalless first half, Edison, Bjorn Kristensen and Clayton Failla started to dictate terms more, with Qormi losing much of their impetus after striker Alfred Effiong was taken off injured. Hibernians striker Tarabai struck twice, and while Ávila Pérez pulled one back for Qormi in added time, Jackson Lima restored his side's two-goal advantage at the death.

Suspended for the final after being shown a red card in the 3-2 win against Valletta FC in the semi-finals, goalkeeper and captain Mario Muscat led the celebrations as the Peacocks took their tenth Maltese Cup. Daniel Balzan, who stood in for Muscat in the final, told UEFA.com: "This means so much to me and of course to my club. Today, I was replacing a Hibernians legend in goal and it was a real privilege to do so. Mario has always stood by me and I owe him a lot."
