FC Dinamo Tbilisi have claimed a third successive Georgian Cup after hitting five unanswered goals past FC Samtredia in today's final at the Mikheil Meskhi stadium.

Manuel Onwu and Giorgi Papunashvili both struck twice in the decider to give Dinamo their 12th cup triumph, nine more than any other side, ensuring they retained it for the second season running. It was also a second cup victory for coach Giorgi Geguchadze who returned to the Dinamo helm just a week ago.

"Of course, it's not a typical scoreline for a cup final. It was all over after the third goal," said Geguchadze. "Samtredia have good, experienced players but luck was on our side. I don't want to take anything away from the lads, though, and I also have to thank the previous coaching staff who got us to the final."

The breakthrough came early as Papunashvili headed in after a gorgeous pass by Giorgi Janelidze. Although the game remained in the balance until half-time as both teams created chances, shortly after the restart Spanish forward Onwu added to the Dinamo advantage. The pair of goalscorers doubled their personal tallies before substitute Davit Volkov rounded things off late on.

Already assured of a UEFA Europa League first qualifying round place thanks to their third-placed finish in the Premier League, Dinamo's win means Tskhinvali in fourth will join them in the competition.
