Ivan Perišić pounced late to salvage a Milan derby draw for Inter as the Nerazzurri warmed up for UEFA Europa League matchday five with a morale-boosting point.
Bottom of Group K ahead of Thursday's trip to face Hapoel Beer-Sheva, Inter twice responded to goals from Suso to keep AC Milan from taking the spoils. Antonio Candreva was first to equalise, but it was Croatian international Perišić who grabbed the all-important leveller in the final minute, poking in following a corner.
There was late drama at Old Trafford too, with Manchester United denied an eye-catching victory against Arsenal on Saturday. Juan Mata put José Mourinho's sixth-placed side in front, but Olivier Giroud came off the bench to consign the Red Devils to a third consecutive home Premier League stalemate.
Nice experienced no such problems, in contrast, as they ended a run of two straight defeats by prevailing 1-0 away to fellow UEFA Europa League hopefuls St-Étienne. Valentin Eysseric made the difference to return Les Aiglons to the Ligue 1 summit, on a weekend when resurgent Schalke won again and Astana clinched silverware in the Kazakh Cup.
